Large industrial batteries

The definition of an industrial battery is that it is designed solely for industrial or other professional use or to be used in electric vehicles. If you are a producer of industrial batteries, you also need to have an appropriate collection system for the batteries you place on the market.

You need to make sure the batteries are labelled, provide end-users with information on how to recycle the battery and you are required to annually submit a report to the Swedish EPA on the amount of batteries collected and how these have been treated.

When you join El-Kretsen, we will help you fulfil your producer responsibility. You will gain access to our collection solution for industrial batteries, a set-up that meets both logistic and environmental demands and complies with legal requirements. We will also submit your report to the EPA on your behalf.

Large industrial batteries cannot be treated in the same way as small and portable batteries as they are unique with respect to their size and shape and have to be inspected prior to transportation. If you deal in portable industrial batteries, we recommend that you sign our agreement for portable batteries.

Taking environmental responsibility should be simple!

Our customers shape the system

Our agreement for large, non-portable industrial batteries looks slightly different: You report quantities sold to us, but unlike the agreement for portable batteries, the recycling fees will not be charged until it is time for collection and treatment of the battery. This means that you, as the customer, have the possibility to shape the system according to your needs. In this way, you have full control of your costs and are in a position to make up your own mind about how you want to deal with your end-of-life batteries. This offers greater freedom and removes the need for you to tie up capital for future recycling.

The collection points will be those you determine at the time of signing the agreement. An electric car battery can, for example, be collected from the garage where it was removed.

The Declaration Portal – everything in one place

To join, please fill in a customer application. In conjunction with entering into the agreement, we will need you to provide certain technical information on your batteries as well as a list of the garage service providers you use. Once your application has been approved, we will send you an e-mail with a link to the agreement to be signed. Subsequently, you will receive your log-in details for the Declaration Portal. This is where you declare your sales volumes, find our information and statistics and where you access your certificates, which you will need to be able to register with the Swedish EPA.

The Swedish EPA, Naturvårdsverket, is the responsible supervisory authority, and it charges an annual fee from all producers. For more guidance on producer responsibility, and to register your company, please visit their website.
