This year’s focus is on #ewastehunt, i.e. the hunt to find forgotten electronic waste. Take a moment to look for all the small items at home such as vapes, electric toothbrushes, cables or USB sticks that have disappeared into drawers. We all know that it is important that these are handed over for recycling so that they are taken care of properly. Did you know that globally we have avoided mining as much as 900 billion kilos of ore by producing new raw materials from recycled materials (The Global E-Waste Monitor 2024)? Your effort counts!
So join the hunt for electronic waste: Look for gadgets with cables or batteries in your drawers, cupboards, garage and attic and take these items to a collection point so they can be recycled! And don’t forget to spread the word! Retrive, Recycle, Revive! #ewasteday #ewastehunt
WEEE Forum announces a competition in this year’s International E-Waste Day. By sending a picture of your hoarded electronics box and showing when you took it for recycling, you have a chance to win a train ticket to travel around Europe! More info at WEEE Forum.
IEWD is a themed day initiated by WEEE Forum – the umbrella organisation for European PRO:s (such as El-Kretsen). IEWD falls on October 14 every year with the goal of drawing attention to the growing issue of electronic waste.
Check out the WEEE Forum’s IEWD video on El-Kretsen’s Youtube channel.
