The New Battery Regulation

On August 18th, the current Battery Directive (or Swedish battery regulation) will expire. On the same day, Chapter VIII of the EU Battery Regulation (EU 2023/1542) will come into force instead. Supplementary provisions to the EU regulation, such as which authorities will be responsible for what, have not yet been presented. They will come shortly. With the short time span between the presentation of the supplementary provisions and August 18th when the regulation comes into force, it will be difficult to meet all requirements in practice from the start. For example, registration of all producers or the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency’s approval of El-Kretsen as a producer responsibility organisation will most likely take a few more weeks.

This means that you as a producer and El-Kretsen as a producer responsibility organisation will need a temporary solution during a transition period. We assume that you as a battery producer want to continue to be registered with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and be a customer of El-Kretsen. A temporary agreement linked below will automatically apply as long as we do not hear otherwise from you or your company. EI-Kretsen’s first action is to help all affiliated battery producers with registration and updating with the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. In order to make the registration as complete as possible, we would be grateful if you would fill out the form below. It is also possible to complete this later.

We understand that there are many questions about the new regulation. We do not have the answers to everything yet, but we are happy that we now have a solution in place for the transition. For you who are an affiliated Battery Producer: Please look through the information letter and the agreement below, as well as fill out the form.
